Napoli make bid for Chelsea winger

Italian Serie A champions Napoli want to make a move for a new winger, and club manager Antonio Conte wants to raid his former club Chelsea to sign England international Raheem Sterling. Sterling, who had a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal last season, earns around £275,000-per-week and the Blues are eager to reduce the burden on their finances. Napoli have emerged as an opportunity for Sterling, who is ready to make a move abroad.
German club Bayer Leverkusen also have an interest in Sterling, but are only prepared to pay around one third of the player's wages should he decide to move to Germany on loan, whereas Napoli are ready to pay more than half in an effort to bring the Chelsea outcast to Italy.
Sterling had a hugely disappointing 2024-25 season at the Emirates and failed to even register a Premier League goal. In two previous season at Chelsea, Sterling had scored 14 goals in 59 league games, but manager Enzo Maresca sees no future for Sterling at Stamford Bridge.
The player is currently training with the Blues' first-team but a deal is expected to be concluded very quickly.
