Aston Villa chasing Spanish forward Aghehowa
Aston Villa have been in contact with Porto as the Villans commence their pursuit of Spanish international striker Samuel Aghehowa. The 6 foot 4 forward scored 19 goals in 30 appearances last season in the Portuguese top flight and is considered one of the brightest attacking prospects from Spain in recent years.
Aston Villa have reportedly registered official interest, with the club considering a £55 million transfer bid amid uncertainty around Ollie Watkins’ future at Villa Park. Known for his clinical finishing, smart movement inside the box, and physical presence, Aghehowa fits a profile Villa coach Unai Emery values: youthful potential with immediate impact capacity. His market value has surged, and his 100 million euro release clause makes him a coveted commodity, and Porto may be willing to negotiate a deal in the 60 million euro range.
Aghehowa could initially arrive as rotation cover before challenging for a starting spot, attracting widespread attention after an Olympic gold medal with Spain’s U‑23 squad in 2024 and senior national team appearances soon after.
Aghehowa first made his national team debut in November of 2024, and eventually made his debut against Switzerland.
Should Villa sign the striker, it would be a replacement for Jhon Duran, who departed for Saudi Arabia earlier in the year.
