Man Utd make approach for Baleba

Manchester United have made an initial approach for Brighton & Hove Albion defensive midfielder Carlos Baleba. It is believed that the Seagulls would likely demand a hefty fee in the region of around £100 million for the Cameroon international.
Brighton are unlikely to be willing to sanction a potential move this summer, as boss Fabian Hurzeler views the Cameroonian as a crucial player in his side, making the deal potentially difficult for the Red Devils.
United boss Ruben Amorim is keen to bolster his midfield options this summer, although a deal is likely to be reliant on outgoings, especially after the previous high profile signings of Brazilian Matheus Cunha from Wolves and fellow Cameroon international Bryan Mbuemo from Brentford, likely leaving a sizeable dent in the budget Amorim has at his disposal.
The 21-year-old joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2023 in a believed £26 million deal from French side Lille and has since made 77 appearances for the club.
Baleba is the potential next in line in a number of high value midfield outgoings for the club, after the sales of Yves Bissouma to Tottenham for £30 million and Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for a fee of £115 million, a Premier League record fee at the time.
