Fernandes wants to play in preferred role

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is reportedly unhappy with his current role under manager Ruben Amorim this season.

The Portugal international has played as an attacking midfielder over the years, but he has operated from a deeper number eight position this term.

As a result, his creativity has drastically reduced while he has been guilty of losing possession regularly in the centre of the park too.

Fernandes has not publicly expressed his frustration, but reports claim that the 31-year-old would prefer to operate in his preferred role.

United host Chelsea at Old Trafford in the Premier League this weekend. There is a possibility that Fernandes could play higher up.

Matheus Cunha is expected to be fit for the game, but the Brazil international could feature off the bench after his hamstring injury.

Fernandes could partner Bryan Mbeumo in the number 10 department while Benjamin Sesko is widely expected to lead the line once more.

Sesko had a quiet evening against Manchester City, but the Slovenian should be an undisputed starter after the big outlay to sign him.
