Heskeys injury heartbreak

Emile Heskey has been ruled out England's next. Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia and Russia through injury. The injury heartbreak comes shortly after returning to the England setup and performing admirably in the games against Russia and Israel.

Scans have confirmed Wigan's worst fears that Heskey has broken his foot and he now faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.

Heskey limped off after only 9 minutes after he appeared to catch his foot in the turf at the JJB. It appears that Heskey has broken his metatarsal and is likely to be missing for England and Wigan for at least 6 weeks.

Wigan's chairman revealed the disappointing news, "It's been a fantastic week, but a disappointing end. He has cracked a metatarsal in his foot. We had it confirmed last night.

"It's not a serious one, but it is still six weeks and I think he will definitely miss the first England game.

"It is bad luck, we are all aware of that. We were shocked yesterday. He just jumped up in the air and came down on his ankle.

"To do that is such bad luck, bad for Wigan, bad for England."
