Chelsea eyeing shock move for Lewis-Skelly

Chelsea have emerged as surprise contenders to sign Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly amid his limited playing time this campaign, according to Teamtalk.
The England international had a fantastic breakthrough season for the Gunners last term. He became a mainstay in the left-back role ahead of Riccardo Calafiori, who picked up several short-term injuries.
However, his situation has completely changed this season. Calafiori has become an undisputed starter in the Premier League, and Lewis-Skelly has had to contend with starts in other competitions thus far.
Lewis-Skelly was recently dropped from the England squad by manager Thomas Tuchel as a result, and this has spread speculation that he could push for a new challenge away from Arsenal, at least on loan to boost his World Cup selection prospects.
Chelsea have now been mentioned as shock contenders to land his services, but it appears unlikely that a deal will materialise in January.
The Blues have Marc Cucurella as the number one choice at left-back, and Lewis-Skelly is unlikely to be guaranteed minutes over him.
Furthermore, the Gunners are unlikely to sell one of their most prized assets to the Blues regardless of the transfer fee placed on the table.
