Arsenal defender makes shock return to national team

Arsenal defender Ben White has secured a shock recall to the England national side for the upcoming international friendlies.

The right-back has not featured for the Three Lions since leaving the group midway through the 2022 World Cup in Saudi Arabia.

White made himself unavailable under former head coach Gareth Southgate, but his stance changed under new manager Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel initially left him out of the 35-man squad last week, but he has now called him up as a replacement for the injured Jarrel Quansah.

While White has finally returned to the national team fold, Eberechi Eze has withdrawn from the squad due to a calf injury sustained last week.

Eze was distraught at missing the Carabao Cup final as a result, and will hope to return to full fitness following the international break.

Arsenal return to action against Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-final next month. The Gunners will face the Saints at St Mary's.
