Arsenal are reportedly exploring a move for Konstantinos Tzolakis as part of a wider rethink of their goalkeeping options, and the interest reflects both long-term planning and immediate concerns following a difficult end to their domestic cup campaign.

Tzolakis, still only 23, has rapidly emerged as one of Europe’s most promising young goalkeepers. Standing at 1.93m and already a regular for Olympiacos and the Greek national team, he combines physical presence with strong reflexes and composure under pressure. His breakout 2024–25 season, where he was named league goalkeeper of the year, underlined his ability to perform consistently at senior level, while his experience in European competition has accelerated his development.

For Arsenal, the appeal is clear. Mikel Arteta has built a side that prioritises control, distribution and structure, and the goalkeeper plays a crucial role in that system. Reports suggest the club are actively monitoring Tzolakis as a potential long-term solution, with his height and command of the box seen as upgrades on current options. His profile fits the modern complete goalkeeper: capable with the ball at his feet, but also dominant aerially and in one-on-one situations.

The situation has been shaped in part by the struggles of Kepa Arrizabalaga in cup competitions. Kepa was given responsibility in the Carabao Cup, including the final, but a costly error contributed to Arsenal conceding twice in quick succession as they lost 2–0 to Manchester City. That performance reinforced concerns about his reliability in high-pressure moments, and criticism of his role has grown since.

While Kepa was initially brought in as an experienced backup, the expectation now is that Arsenal will move in a different direction. Tzolakis represents a younger, higher-upside alternative who could eventually challenge or even replace the current hierarchy.
