Arsenal make contact to sign 26yo Man Utd target

Arsenal have made contact with Sporting CP defender Maxi Araujo, who is also on the radar of Manchester United, as per Record.
The Gunners are aiming to add more quality to their ranks this summer and they have been recently linked with a move for another left-back.
Araujo was fantastic in his Champions League quarter-final ties against Arsenal and the Gunners are now weighing up an approach.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was very impressed by his showing in those games and has urged the hierarchy to make a move for the Uruguayan.
Contact has already been established with the player's agents, but the big question remains whether the left-back can be convinced to make the switch.
Arsenal have Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie and Myles Lewis-Skelly as presently the options for the left-back position this term.
Lewis-Skelly could head for the exit door but Arsenal would still have two quality left-backs in the prime of their careers next season.
Hincapie was only signed on loan from Bayer Leverkusen last summer, but the club have the option to sign him for 45 million pounds.
Hence, a deal could be difficult to pursue. Sporting CP are expected to demand at least 52 million pounds to sell Araujo this summer.
