Chelsea make managerial decision on Xavi Hernandez

Chelsea are reluctant to pursue a deal for Xavi Hernandez despite making contact with his representatives last month.

The Blues are set to announce a new head coach at the end of the campaign and the club could step up their pursuit soon.

Xavi's availability has been enquired by the west London giants, but he does not appear at the top of the wishlist at the moment.

The Blues have other alternatives on their radar. Xabi Alonso, Andoni Iraola and Marco Silva are among the prime names targeted.

Iraola will be a free agent when his Bournemouth contract expires this summer, and he could emerge as the frontrunner for the job.

Chelsea have lost six league games on the bounce and this recently contributed to them parting ways with Liam Rosenior.

The Blues could still end the campaign on a high note by beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.
