Man Utd considering offer for Granit Xhaka

Manchester United are reportedly considering a surprise summer move for Granit Xhaka as the club prepares for life after Casemiro. The Brazilian midfielder is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season following a difficult campaign, with United looking to rebuild the spine of their midfield ahead of the 2026-27 season.
While United have been linked with several younger midfielders across Europe, Xhaka has emerged as an attractive option because of his experience, leadership and consistency. The Switzerland international has enjoyed another outstanding season and continues to prove that he remains one of the most reliable midfielders in European football despite turning 33 earlier this year.
Xhaka's performances this season have reminded many supporters why he became such an important figure during his later years at Arsenal. Across all competitions, he has contributed two goals and seven assists while maintaining some of the best passing numbers in his side. More importantly, he has controlled matches with his positioning, composure and tactical discipline.
Manchester United are believed to want more leadership in the dressing room following another inconsistent campaign. Casemiro brought experience and winning mentality when he arrived from Real Madrid in 2022, but his physical decline over the last two seasons has become increasingly obvious. United's midfield has often looked too open in transition, with the Brazilian struggling to cover large spaces defensively.
Xhaka, by contrast, has excelled because of his intelligence rather than athleticism. He dictates tempo, organises teammates around him and rarely loses possession under pressure. His ability to slow games down and control the rhythm of midfield has become one of his biggest strengths.
Another factor behind his impressive season has been his durability. While many midfielders around Europe have struggled with injuries and rotation, Xhaka has once again been a near ever-present figure. Coaches continue to trust him because of his professionalism and tactical understanding.
United also see him as a player capable of helping younger talents develop. Kobbie Mainoo remains one of the club's biggest long-term midfield hopes, and Xhaka's experience could help stabilise the side during an important rebuilding phase.
