Bruno Guimaraes hands in transfer request, wants Arsenal move

Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has informed the Magpies about his intention to join Arsenal during the ongoing transfer window, according to David Ornstein.

The Brazil international has been one of the best midfielders in the English top-flight over the past few seasons, and he is now eager to pursue a bigger challenge where he can win trophies.

Arsenal are his preferred destination for next season and he has now personally informed Newcastle that he wishes to join the Premier League champions in the near future.

The Magpies continue to insist that their captain is not for sale, but the Gunners are prepared to test their resolve with £60m, and could be prepared to go higher to prise him away.

Newcastle have had a forgettable summer, having already sold Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon, and losing Guimaraes to Arsenal could be the biggest setback of the lot.

He has been influential to their progress over the past four seasons and without him, the club may struggle to push for European football.
