Carrick on Mount

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has provided a positive injury update on midfielder Mason Mount following the friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on Saturday.

The Englishman was substituted early in the opening half against Les Parisiens, and it was initially feared that he may have picked up a fresh muscle injury.

However, Carrick allayed any fears in his post-match press conference. He revealed that Mount received a big kick and the club substituted him as a precaution.

Regardless, United may speed up their pursuit of a third midfield signing after Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer, given Mount has been injury-prone.

Mount has been hampered by countless injuries during his time at the Mancunian giants, and relying on him as a central midfield option presents a risk next term.

The Red Devils are already without Manuel Ugarte with a serious knee injury. Kobbie Mainoo is the only other option, given Bruno Fernandes is viewed as an attacker.
