Real Madrid lining up move for Arsenal midfielder

Real Madrid are poised to return for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi, after missing out on landing Rodri to Barcelona.

The Spanish giants were initially keen on signing Rodri from Manchester City, but he has chosen to join the Blaugrana instead.

Los Blancos are now eyeing a proper alternative, and manager Jose Mourinho has given the green light to sign Arsenal's Zubimendi.

The World Cup winner was a regular starter for the Gunners in his debut season (25/26), but his performances were below par after February.

Myles Lewis-Skelly was eventually promoted to the starting XI to partner Declan Rice, and the club graduate has barely put a foot wrong.

He has continued to impress in pre-season this campaign, and it won't be easy to displace the 19-year-old from the starting line-up.

Arsenal have also added another marquee midfielder in Bruno Guimaraes this summer, which could lead to Zubimendi's departure.

Zubimendi was a top target for Madrid before his move to Arsenal, and the Madrid heavyweights seem prepared to make a new offer.
