Arsenal ready to sell 26yo midfielder to Hamburg

Arsenal are likely to sanction the sale of midfielder Fabio Vieira to Hamburg this summer.

Vieira, 26, spent the previous season on loan with the Bundesliga outfit. He was hugely impressive for them with 13 goal contributions.

Hamburg did not trigger a £22m release clause at their disposal and have been in regular negotiations with Arsenal to reduce the final fee.

Arsenal were initially reluctant to lower their demands for the Portuguese, but have now agreed to accept around £14m for his transfer.

Vieira has agreed a pay-cut with the Bundesliga outfit, and it appears a matter of time before the former Porto man makes a permanent switch.

Alongside Vieira, there could be more departures in the coming days. Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus are expected to be sold soon.

Ethan Nwaneri could leave on a season-long loan deal, but a permanent transfer has also not been ruled out for the academy graduate.

Borussia Dortmund and Fulham are among his main admirers.
