Chelsea star Cole Palmer withdraws from international duty

Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer has withdrawn from international duty due to workload concerns, according to The Athletic.

The England international has had a fine start to the campaign with the Blues and has made six goal contributions in seven matches.

Palmer recently returned to national team selection after failing to make the World Cup squad, but he won't be involved in the Nations League matches.

The Blues star wants to handle his workload in the early part of the season given his injury concerns during the previous campaign.

England play four Nations League matches over the next three weeks. At the same time, Palmer has decided to take an extended break.

In his absence, Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White has been called up by manager Thomas Tuchel after the initial snub last week.

Gibbs-White has been one of the best standout playmakers this year, and he has cancelled his holiday in Dubai to link up with England.
