Arsenal star misses training ahead of Nations League game

Arsenal star Jurrien Timber was reportedly absent from the Netherlands' first training session under new head coach Xavi Hernandez.

The Dutchman recently returned to competitive action for the Gunners after a nagging groin issue. He started against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

Timber played for an hour before being substituted, and it is now reported that he has not taken part in the Netherlands' first training session today.

Voetbal International reveal that the Gunners have asked the Netherlands coaching staff to handle him with caution, given his groin issue.

It was definitely a reason behind his absence, and it could mean that he may not feature against Germany in the opening Nations League game.

Arsenal had a reality check after a 3-0 loss to Brighton before the international break and will be keen to make amends next month.

The Gunners host Leeds United in their Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium on October 10. Arsenal won both meetings last term.
