Arsenal defender out of international duty with groin issue

Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie was not picked for Ecuador duty due to a groin concern, according to El Comercio.

The Ecuadorian joined the Gunners on a permanent deal after a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen last season.

He has been used sparingly by manager Mikel Arteta in recent weeks, and it now appears that he is not fully fit at the moment.

Hincapie was recently left out of the Carabao Cup fourth-round win over Ipswich Town but returned to the squad to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League last weekend. Arsenal lost 3-0 to the Seagulls.

Still, he didn't come on to replace Riccardo Calafiori. He has now been excluded from the Ecuador squad due to a groin issue and will instead recover with the Gunners.

The same is true of Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo, who has managed just 14 minutes of Premier League action this campaign, having struggled with an ankle problem since the start of August.
