Thomas Tuchel on Cole Palmer's absence for England

England head coach Thomas Tuchel has spoken about Cole Palmer following his absence from the national team squad for the upcoming Nations League matches.

Palmer was left out of the World Cup squad this summer after an injury-plagued campaign, but he has been fully fit and firing since the start of the new season.

As a result, he was recalled to the national set-up by Tuchel, but Palmer won't feature after pulling out due to concerns regarding his workload.

Tuchel said in a presser before the Nations League opener against Spain: "He misses too many opportunities, he misses way too many camps with injuries. It’s not his fault."

Palmer is not the only Englishman to withdraw from the squad. Declan Rice likewise opted out due to concerns regarding his hamstring.

Chelsea have had an average start to the league season with just seven points, and Palmer will be key to turning around their fortunes after the break.
