Arsenal playmaker picks up ankle knock on international duty

Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard sustained a knock to his ankle during the 2-1 Nations League defeat to Portugal on Sunday night.

The 27-year-old had a good overall performance against the reigning Nations League holders and should have had an assist in the first half.

Odegaard's free kick indirectly contributed to Norway's equaliser, but a mistake by goalkeeper Orjan Nyland allowed Portugal to secure the win.

Towards the closing minutes, Odegaard was the subject of a reckless challenge from Bernardo Silva, who had just come on.

Silva had only one motivation to kick Odegaard on the ankle, and he was in the end fortunate to only pick up a yellow card, in our view.

Odegaard was spotted limping out of the stadium after the game, and there is genuine concern regarding his fitness at the moment.

The Gunners skipper will be closely assessed by the medical staff before Norway's next Nations League match against Wales away from home.
