Martins staying at Newcastle

Obafemi Martins looks set to stay at Newcastle after a few persistent transfer rumours. Arsenal had been linked with the attacker as a potential replacement for Thierry Henry, but nothing came of the move. There were rumours that Martins had a £13m pricetag which Arsenal were unwilling to pay.

Martins is looking forward to battling for a starting place with Michael Owen, Mark Viduka and Shola Ameobi under new coach Sam Allardyce.
