Heskey wanted by Aston Villa

Emile Heskey has emerged as a possible transfer target for Aston Villa. The Wigan frontman is valued by his club at around £6 million and is apparently keen to make a move elsewhere.

It is understood that Tottenham too are interested in the England international striker, but that Aston Villa could steal a march on their rivals if Martin O'Neill is able to stump up the cash to launch a raid on the Latics.

Heskey is seen as a long-term partner for John Carew and O'Neill is tempted to make a swoop in the January transfer window.
