Stop criticising Refs openly - FA

The Football Association have urged Premier League managers to stop slating referees publicly. FA vowed that they will go with the 'Respect Campaign'.

"It is disappointing to witness managers publicly criticising referees. They should use official channels to provide their views on the performances of the referees." said FA directore of governance Jonathan Hall.

He added that the FA fully support the 'Respect Campaign' and they will not abandon it. Although some news reports suggested that the campaign might be in the verge of disintegration, Hall said that the managers should learn to respect referees.

"We understand the frustration of the managers when a decision goes wrong, but the managers should try to understand that no referee does that deliberately."

He said that the managers should show more composure when a call goes against him.

Lately, Newcastle boss, Joe Kinnear, branded Martin Atkinson "a Mickey mouse ref" and declared that he could count "on one hand" the number of officials he holds in high esteem.

Kinnear would face a possible FA charge tomorrow.
