Gary Neville to hang his boots?

The Manchester United captain, Gary Neville, is in the final year of his contract and might hang his boots up as a new contract has not been offered yet.

Gary Neville's days at Manchester United could be numbered as he is still struggling to regain his form and fitness. He has not fully recovered as the Neville we all know after an ankle injury happened 16 months ago in the Premier League match against Bolton.

Man Utd's last match against Arsenal saw a young Samir Nasri scoring two goals and thus helping the Gunners to win the match. Neville was to take the blame for the first goal, as his poor marking helped Nasri to lurk in and around the Man Utd penalty box. The 33 year old was eventually substituted and the dynamic Brazilian right back, Rafael, even scored a goal for United.

Sir Alex Ferguson considers Rafael as the long-term replacement of Neville. He sure has high hopes on the talented 18-year old.

In addition to this, Man Utd have extended Wes Brown's contract by four years. Brown had taken care of the Neville role last season beautifully and the fans are confident about his performances on the pitch.

Neville thinks that he needs some games to be match fit and to earn a new contract. He is still the captain of the team, even though Rio Ferdinand is touted as his replacement.

"It’s just a case of remaining patient, keeping fit and training well every day.” said Neville.
