Villa to spend big in January

Aston Villa chairman Randy Lerner has reportedly told Martin O'Neill that there is a lot of money to spend in the January transfer window. It is understood that the American has promised O'Neill up to 18 million GBP for new players.

It is rumoured that O'Neill may actually spend all of the money on only one player, and that player could well be a striker.

With Ivica Olic and David Trezeguet all reportedly linked with a shock move to Villa Park, O'Neill is keeping his options open.

It is understood that Aston Villa want to find the perfect partner for John Carew up front.
