Mbia still a target for Newcastle

Newcastle United are apparently still interested in signing Rennes' versatile defensive midfielder Stephane Mbia in the January transfer window. Joe Kinnear has admitted he is desperate to add new players to his squad.

The 22 year old has had a successful period in Ligue 1 with Rennes, and is apparently keen to move to the Premiership.

Newcastle reportedly made a 5 million GBP offer for Mbia, which was rejected.

It is understood that Rennes are looking for closer to 7 million GBP.
