Defoe delighted with Spurs goal
Jermain Defoe is delighted that he scored his first goal since making a return to Tottenham against his old club Portsmouth. Defoe's goal helped Spurs battle to a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane.
Defoe was getting a bit of a reception from the Portsmouth travelling support, so he was delighted to put one in the back of the net against them.
Defoe quipped: âTo score on my home debut for the second time meant a lot â but it would have been so much better if we could have won.
âI celebrated scoring against my old club because I always feel fantastic when I hit the target, why change?
âHopefully this is just the start for me â I want more goals to help push the team up the table.
âWe are in a real fight at the minute, itâs tough down there but weâve just got to keep it going.
âObviously I knew I was going to get a bit of stick from the Portsmouth fans. Thatâs football but I enjoyed the game and it would have been nice if we had won.â
