Aggers Future In Doubt?

Aggers Future In Doubt?

'Play me or let me leave', those were the words of Daniel Agger yesterday as he spoke of his frustration at this limited chances in the Liverpool side.

The Danish internationals chances have been limted since the arrival of Martin Skrtel last year, and he feels he deserves a place in the Reds team. “Let me be honest and admit that, if I don’t play, then it’s untenable and it can’t go on like that,” said Agger.

“It’s never fun as a footballer when you don’t play every time. That’s no secret. But that’s my situation in the club right now, that he (Benitez) won’t let me play.

“That’s not my decision. The question now is whether this is the right thing for me, because I would like to play some football.

“But for now I have chosen to give it some time and give it a chance and fight for my spot in the team.

“I feel I’m good enough. For the same reason it’s annoying that I don’t play.

“I’ll wait for the chance and then I will prove that I’m good enough. I’ll show them – no doubt about that.”

The Dane had a regular run in the side before Christmas due to the injury to Skrtel, but hasnt been able to force himself back in to the heart of the Liverpool defense, even though he did start at Portsmouth on saturday as part of a three man defence, but Skrtel was imminently put back alongside Carragher when he returned from injury. Contract talks were due to take place with Agger, but they are still to be scheduled, and Agger has the opportunity to buy out his contract under the Webster ruling in the summer, the Danes Anfield career could soon be over.
