Liverpool chase Albelda

Liverpool could make a bid for David Albelda if Xabi Alonso quits the club this summer. It is understood that Rafa Benitez has identified Albelda as the perfect replacement for Alonso, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal and to Real Madrid.

Albelda has hinted that he could well be interested in leaving his current club, Valencia, if the right opportunity presented itself.

Liverpool are ready to offer as much as £3 million for the Spain international midfielder. Alonso is expected to complete a move to either Real Madrid or Arsenal in the coming 2 months.
