Arsenal get 9th win in row

Arsenal got their second win of the Champions League group stages thanks to a 1-0 victory in a tough battle in Romania over Staeua Bucharest. The all important goal came in the 77th minute when Robin van Persie got onto a nice cross from the hard-working Adebayor to thump the ball into the top of the net.

The match was not easy for Arsenal, and much of their attacking play was nullified by a well organised Staeua defence. Eugen Baciu was hard working in defence and the slightly overweight Romanian held off Adebayor much of the night.

Arsenal had several breaks of interest, and Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna made some superb runs from the flanks. Fabregas was quiet in the middle of the park, much like van Persie. But Adebayor worked his socks off, and his tireless effort brought Arsenal's eventual winner from Robin van Persie.

Staeua's best chance came in the 57th minute, Toure showed great defensive awareness to keep Arsenal level when Almunia's clearance fell to Dica who fired a long-range effort towards an unguarded net, but Toure had retreated and headed out of danger.

Staeua had a good spell of pressure, Iacob wasted a glorious chance to punish Arsenal when he was sent clear after 70 minutes, but he was dismal in front of goal and spanked the ball wide and over whilst having the goal at his mercy. A shocking miss.

Arsenal took advantage of the reprieve to take the lead with 15 minutes left, courtesy of Van Persie.

Arsenal continue to look very impressive - as they notched their 9th win on the spin.
