Clichy linked with Liverpool

Arsenal left back Gael Clichy might ruffle a few feathers at the Emirates if, as reported yesterday, he completes a summer move to Liverpool. The player is stalling on a new contract at Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger has told Clichy that he would like to keep him at the club but, if reports are to be believed, he also told the player he would not stand in his way if a club made an offer for the left back.

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has already been busy this summer signing Jordan Henderson for £20 million from Sunderland.

Gael Clichy has fallen out of favour somewhat at Arsenal, and much is expected from England youngster Kieran Gibbs, who would be an able replacement for Clichy.

A fee of £5 million has been reported in the press.
