Balotelli joins Liverpool in a £16m transfer
English giants Liverpool have reached an agreement over the sale of Mario Balotelli in a £16m transfer with AC Milan.
The Italian striker had been heavily linked with a move away from San Siro all summer, and the Reds were the front runners in securing the services of the 24-year-old, as boss Brendan Rodgers was keen on strengthening the attack at Anfield following the departure of Luis Suarez, who was last season’s top scorer, to Barcelona last month.
Balotelli joined the Red and Blacks from Manchester City in January last year, and has 30 goals to his name in 54 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A side.
Though he still has to agree personal terms with the Premier League side and the negotiations are in progress, Milan have confirmed that the player is all set to leave Italy and has bid his farewell.
"Mario Balotelli left Milanello's sporting centre at 13:30 local time, after saying goodbye to his team-mates”, a statement on the club’s official website read.
"Before leaving the premises, the striker has said goodbye to members of Milan's press office."
