Louis van Gaal surprised by Pedro's Barca exit
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has stated that the club were never really in the race to sign Barcelona attacker Pedro.
The Red Devils had been constantly linked with a move for the Spain international, with some reports claiming that the Mancunian giants had agreed personal terms with the talented winger.
However, Van Gaal has insisted that the club never made a formal offer for the 27-year-old, as Barca were reluctant to offload their star asset.
He added that he was surprised by the Catalan club's decision to allow league rivals Chelsea secure the player's services.
Pedro is in line to make his Blues debut against West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.
