Bournemouth interested in Jermain Defoe
Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe will reportedly offer Jermain Defoe a return to the Premier League, should Sunderland fail to beat the drop this season.
The 34-year-old has recently cited his intention to prolong his Premier League career after his impressive showing with the Black Cats earned him an England recall after nearly four years.
Defoe spent a solitary loan season with the Cherries between 2000 and 2001, and he has since evolved into a regular goalscorer for his employers.
The Sun suggests that Howe is open to the possibility of resigning the veteran marksman following an excellent season which has seen him net 14 goals across all competitions.
Defoe, who is also on the radar of West Ham United, could be available on a free transfer this summer, should the Black Cats fail to preserve their Premier League status beyond the current campaign.
Sunderland currently lie rock-bottom of the top division, seven points adrift of safety with a game in hand.
