Erik Pieters deal to Newcastle falls through

PSV Eindhoven defender Erik Pieters looks set to be staying in Holland after a deal that would see him move to Newcastle fell through.

It is not certain why the deal fell through exactly, but Alan Pardew admitted he was still on the look out for new names prior to the closure of the transfer window: “I am frustrated that we haven't got a couple of bodies in yet. Hopefully, we will get it over the line this week.”
