Barton admits he had Sunderland option

QPR midfielder Joey Barton has revealed that he had a last minute offer from Sunderland after leaving Newcastle. The midfielder joined QPR last week after a falling out with Newcastle bosses.

"There were other clubs interested in me but it would not be prudent to name names as I am not going to air everybody's dirty laundry," Barton told The People.



"Some of them I could do and some I could not. If I had gone there I would probably have been lynched."
