Stoke City have smashed their transfer record to bring England international striker Peter Crouch to the club. The deal was completed at the very end of the transfer window for 10m GBP.

  • Chelsea midfielder wants to play in Olympic games
  • Arsenal favourites to sign French winger ahead of Chelsea

  • The move for Crouch marks an epic day for Stoke City, who also brought in Wilson Palacios for 6m GBP yesterday from Tottenham.

Stoke City executive Tony Scholes wrote on the official website: "These fantastic deals are a statement of this football club's intent.

"The club has made incredible strides forward over the past five years and to attract players of this calibre shows our ambitions as we look to continue that progress this season and beyond that."

Crouch has signed a four year contract and the deal could be worth a total of 12m GBP to Spurs after performance bonuses.
