John Terry: no player guaranteed start

John Terry: no player guaranteed start

04 September 2011 - 11:59

England captain John Terry believes that none of the squad is an automatic choice anymore. Frank Lampard had been left on the bench by Fabio Capello for Friday's match with Bulgaria.

  • Man Utd expecting €80m boost with double player sale
  • Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Galatasaray, Salah starts
  • The emergence of defensive duo Phil Jones and Gary Cahill has also put John Terry under pressure.

Terry said: "I think that goes for all of us, myself included, everyone in the squad.

"We saw the manager earlier in the week leave Rio Ferdinand out, so we all feel it.

"What we are seeing is competition all over the park for places.

"The youngsters who have come in have brought a lot of enthusiasm into the camp and there is a real emphasis on the way the team wants to go.

"They are a big part of that and a big part of England's future. It is down to the manager at the end of the day.

"But we are all here, all wanting the same outcome, and that's for England to go through to the finals and do well."
