Arsenal midfielder Andrei Arshavin has admitted disappointment in the Gunners' failed pursuit of Yann M'Vila. The Gunners had made several offers to Rennes for the player, but were unable to complete a move.
According to reports, Arsenal had almost agreed a fee with Rennes for the player, and had even agreed terms with the player for a move.
However, Arsenal were still a few million short of Rennes' valuation.
Arshavin was admittedly disappointed that their approach for M'Vila failed.
"Of course the club had been working on transfers but I think the 8-2 speeded up and invigorated their work," said Arshavin.
"Perhaps another holding midfielder wouldn't hurt and, as far as I know, we were trying till the last minute to get M'Vila, but unfortunately we weren't able to buy him."
