Chelsea have admitted they tried to bring Uruguayan defender Alvaro Pereira to Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window, but failed to agree a fee with Porto for the transfer.
The Uruguayan had been one of Andre Villas-Boas' most consistent performers whilst in charge at Porto, and the coach hoped to bring Pereira to Chelsea during the summer.
However, Chelsea were unable to agree a fee for the player, as admitted by Villas-Boas himself: "For Alvaro Pereira, Portoâs asking price was too much."
