Chelsea investigate Torres comments

Chelsea investigate Torres comments

12 September 2011 - 14:59

Chelsea have reportedly opened an internal investigation regarding comments attributed to 50m GBP record signing Fernando Torres. The Spaniard reportedly criticised his team mates in an interview with reporters.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Fernando Torres has so far struggled to adapt to life at Chelsea, scoring only one goal since his record transfer move in January.

Torres reportedly told reporters that his lack of goals was due to the poor service from his team mates at Chelsea, insisting that some of his colleagues were "very slow" and "older".

Andre Villas-Boas was nevertheless very disappointed to hear of these comments from Torres, that later appeared on the striker's personal website.

Andre Villas-Boas confirmed that Chelsea would handle the matter internally.

"We are going in-depth to regain the tape of that interview," Villas-Boas said. "We'll see if things play exactly as they are in that interview. We want to go in-depth a bit more. Anyhow, it's one player's perspective. I don't think it's a perspective that the manager shares. I don't have to share my players' ideas sometimes."

Chelsea have grown frustrated with the performances of Torres since his arrival from Liverpool, and instead decided to play Nicolas Anelka and Daniel Sturridge last weekend.
