Preview: Everton vs Manchester United

Preview: Everton vs Manchester United

29 October 2011 - 08:04

Alex Ferguson this week said that Wayne Rooney is still considered a traitor to Everton fans, and much of the build up to this game has focused on the England striker. Nevertheless, Man Utd will be hoping Rooney is in form and morale dented after 6-1 defeat to Man City is fully restored.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Manchester United return to Premier League action against Everton, and the fiery Scot will demand a winning response. During midweek, Man Utd defeated Aldershot as they went someway to restoring their dented confidence from last weekend's 6-1 mauling to Man City.

Everton never make it easy for any team that visits Goodison Park, despite their home form this year being so poor; and the same will be said for Man Utd when they come to town in Saturday's early afternoon kick off.

Everton have only seen one victory at home at Goodison Park so far this year. A run of three defeats in a row was ended after an important win against Fulham last week saw them jump to 13th in the league. David Moyes will be hoping to follow suit against Man Utd.

    FORM

Everton have only won one game against Man Utd in their last twelve. Man Utd have only won 2 of their last 6 games.

    TEAMS

Tom Cleverley and Nemanja Vidic are back in action for Man Utd. Ashley Young could be rested as he recovers from a toe injury.

Tim Cahill could return, but Royston Drenthe is suspended. Phil Neville will miss out through injury and will not have the chance to take on his former club.

    PREDICTION

    Everton 1-2 Man Utd

    FIRST GOALSCORER

    Wayne Rooney
