Michael Owen out for six weeks with injury

Michael Owen out for six weeks with injury

15 November 2011 - 11:41

Man Utd striker Michael Owen will be out of action for around six weeks as he needs to recover from an injury sustained in the Champions League against Romanian side Otelul.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • "Michael has a thigh muscle injury and will be out for six weeks or so," a club spokesman told manutd.com.

The striker could return before the end of the new year, and could be back in time for United's game with Wigan in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

Owen has rarely featured in the Premier League this year though, as Javier Hernandez and Wayne Rooney continue to be Sir Alex Ferguson's first choice pairing up front.
