England's proposed bid for the 2018 World Cup comes into the limelight as the BBC plan to broadcast a Panorama programme investigating senior FIFA figures. The programme will investigate just how fair an opportunity England have of hosting the tournament. Panorama "are examining whether England can expect 'fair play' from FIFA".

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Panorama have reportedly sent a number of letters to FIFA president Sepp Blatter, general secretary Jerome Valcke and executive committee members Jack Warner and Chuck Blazer asking them to respond to the claims that there may be some unfair treatment as Engalnd prepare to mount a bid for the 2018 tournament.

Panorama shall investigate the conduct of FIFA officials following the US court case between FIFA and MasterCard that ended with football's world governing body agreeing a £45million settlement with the credit card giant.

Panorama is set to air their show on October 19th, and will coincide with the FIFA meeting in Zurich that is expected to agree to the end of rotation of the World Cup hosting between continents.
