Preview: Arsenal vs Everton

Preview: Arsenal vs Everton

10 December 2011 - 14:26

This weekend marks the 125th anniversary of Arsenal Football Club, as the Gunners host Everton in today's Premier League battle at the Emirates. The Gunners are in inspired form, winning 6 of their last 7 games; whilst Everton remain hopeful of continuing their push from the mid-table.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Today's game marks a huge milestone in the history of Arsenal, as some of the club's biggest names come to the Emirates. During the week, Arsenal unveiled bronze statues of some of the biggest names to have ever played for the club, including Thierry Henry and Tony Adams. Both will be in London this weekend to watch these two teams tussle.

The form suggests that Arsenal may have the upper hand here. Arsene Wenger has won 13 of the 15 games at home when hosting the Blues. Everton last won at Arsenal back in 1996 with a 2-1 victory. Everton have a better record on their travels than they do at Goodison Park, and will be hoping for more of the same today.

    TEAMS

Arsenal will be without Brazilian left back Andre Santos, who picked up an injury against Olympiakos in the Champions League. Manuel Almunia returns to Arsenal's squad as Lukas Fabianski faces a spell on the sidelines.  Jack Rodwell and Leon Osman will be missing for Everton, but Louis Saha could return.

    PREDICTION

    Arsenal 3-0 Everton

    FIRST GOALSCORER

    Robin van Persie
