It's the 177th Merseyside derby in the Premiership on Saturday's early kick-off between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park. Fernando Torres is missing for Liverpool, while Tim Cahill makes his long-awaited return. If Everton grab a victory they will level on points with Liverpool.

  • Chelsea join Liverpool & Man Utd in race to sign 26yo
  • Barcelona identify Arsenal midfielder as key transfer target

  • Both clubs have won four Premier League matches this season, but while the Toffees have also lost four, the Reds are still unbeaten.

Liverpool who didn't manage to score against Everton last season are chasing a sixth victory in eight visits to Goodison Park.

Everton will enjoy the welcome return of Australian Tim Cahill back to their lineup after a metatarsal injury, while Andy Johnson is still missing.

Thomas Gravesen and James Vaughan are back from injury and are unlikely to play, however.

Fernando Torres who seems doubtful trained on Wednesday and Thursday as he recovers from a thigh injury, and is not expected to start. Whilst Dutch international Dirk Kuyt has a hamstring problem that will be assessed ahead of the match. Xabi Alonso is close to making a return after a metatarsal injury.

    Everton 1-1 Liverpool

What a great opportunity Everton have to get one over their old rivals - but Liverpool and Rafa Benitez are under enormous pressure to grab a result. This one is a completely open game, however, Liverpool should have the edge over Everton who will miss Andy Johnson. The danger man will be - if he plays - Victor Anichebe. He has threatened Andy Johnson's starting place all season and could be the key man tomorrow. In any case, the return of Tim Cahill will give Everton much needed strength in their squad.

    Prediction: 1-1 Draw

    Goalscorer: Victor Anichebe
