Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has instructed his scouts to check on Reims midfielder Romain Amalfitano. The Toon Army have a wealth of knowledge about the French football leagues from the scouting network, and are set to make another move for a French youngster.

  • The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is valued by his club at around 4 million, and has become a first team regular at Reims since making the move from Evian.

The diminuitive midfielder is expected to travel to England to thrash out personal terms with Newcastle this week.

Last month, when asked about a move to Newcastle, the player said: "I am a Reims player and I will be out of contract at the end of the season.

"I want to finish this season strongly. Newcastle are a fantastic club and to play for them would be a dream come true, but nothing is done as yet. Let's wait and see what happens."
