Rio Ferdinand pens new Man Utd contract

Manchester United and Rio Ferdinand have come to terms to agree on a brand new contract. The 34-year-old defender this week retired from international football, but will stay at Old Trafford until 2014.

  • Ferdinand scored the last goal at Old Trafford of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign, and supporters will be delighted to have signed a new contract.<br />

    Ferdinand has struck up an epic partnership with Nemanja Vidic at the club in past seasons; the defender will now look forward to next season under his incoming manager David Moyes.
