Rio Ferdinand pens new Man Utd contract

Manchester United and Rio Ferdinand have come to terms to agree on a brand new contract. The 34-year-old defender this week retired from international football, but will stay at Old Trafford until 2014.

Ferdinand scored the last goal at Old Trafford of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign, and supporters will be delighted to have signed a new contract.

Ferdinand has struck up an epic partnership with Nemanja Vidic at the club in past seasons; the defender will now look forward to next season under his incoming manager David Moyes.
