Pep to rival Man Utd for Alcantara's Signature

The New Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola is hoping to beat Manchester United’s interest in the race to sign Barcelona starlet Thiago Alcantara who he has good relations with.

  • The 22-year-old midfielder has currently a release clause of £18million which is down by a few millions as he failed to appear in more than 60 percent of Barcelona league matches last season.

This lack of first team opportunities has led to Thiago exploring options of a possible move away from the Camp Nou where he started as an academy scholar.

The former Barcelona manager Guardiola is hoping to take advantage of this and bring the Spanish under-21 international alongside him to the Allianz Arena.

This could be one of the few reunions with the former Barcelona manager as Eric Abidal is also linked with a move to the UEFA Champions League winners.

This lack of first-team action has led Thiago to explore options of possible move away from the Camp Nou.

David Moyes has also shown his interest in bringing Thiago to Old Trafford as he looks to put his own print on the Manchester United squad.

The presence of Guardiola may be key to any deal, he was the one who brought Thiago into the Barcelona first-team at the age of 18 in 2009.
